Viper UAV Project
Hi everyone,
i am new to the XMOS scene, and want to say hello and give some info for what i will use my xc-1 board's.
Like the topic says its a uav project with a multi rotor craft, like the Draganflyer, silverlift x-ufo, Microcopter, and so on.
When i started the planing i started out with the idea of using a propeller chip from parallax, but as soon i saw this amazing chip, i stopped the layout and now i am waiting for my new IMU Sensor boards what will fit underneath a xc-1 board.
The IMU board will hold :
3 gyros, 1 accel, 1 Barometric and 1 compass
Also a xbee module for the telemetric data.
I cant wait to get the xc-1 boards, i hope the post is fast from hong kong : )
More to come, and if some one is interested in this project
i will have a couple of the bare imu boards here.

That sounds really
That sounds really interesting! It would be great if you could keep us posted on your progress and post some pictures ;) Is this a personal project for a company?
Awesome!!
I really wanted to get involved with creating autonomous RC helicopters and such. This sounds like a very cool project. Do share photos and your experiences with us! Feel free to post in the forums if you have any questions in getting started :)
Year i will have a lot of
Year i will have a lot of questions,
hopefully not to much. I guess my biggest challenge will be to get a kallman filter ported to xc.
I will post another blog entry shortly with more info on the imu board and also what will be on it.
Questions
I am sure you will get some great support from the Xlinkers community. Feel free to start some threads and ask some questions.
Are you working as part of a team or is this an individual project?

We already have some experience with this, so let us know when you get this far
great i will do that, i hope
great i will do that, i hope my boards are here soon : )
Yes and no, this project was started from me with the propeller chip in mind, and so 2 other have joined the project, but since i found the XMOS chip i turned my course a bit and now we are split, but still share common parts
like the ESC, Airframe, Remote.. but for now i am alone in the way that i go totally XC-1.
I also design and build my own remote to the project.
Based on the xbee modules and some nice oled touch screens.
my goal is to build some thing similar to the X6 Draganflyer
Multi Rotor copter.
That is so cool!
Just looked up the X6 Draganflyer, that looks so cool! I wanted to do something along those lines too for my final year project at university, however I did not have any prior experience in RC flight, so decided I did not have enough time to implement this (also it was my individual project so would only have been me working on it).
My idea was to create an autonomous helicopter that could fly to GPS way points and avoid obstacles along the way, also with camera attached to record as it went along. I may give it a go some day when I have more time and a bit more experience in the hardware side of things (I am a computer scientist) so need to brush up on my electronics knowledge!
Obviously my key selling point was to make it at a much cheaper cost than 15K!
I would love to see it if you do manage to get it working!
